Read what Buhari discussed with APC governors

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has shed light on the discussion that took place between President Muhammadu Buhari,    All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and leaders of the party. In a telephone conversation, Governor Okorocha said the President was very cheerful and has not lost a bit of his sense of humour.   A statement from the senior adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina said the governor said the party delegation spent more than an hour with President Buhari during lunch, and it was very clear from the discussions that the president did followed developments at home.   He said the President was delighted to receive the delegation and asked each governor about affairs in his state.   He also asked the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, about the state of the railways.   When asked to react to all the negative things being said about him, the President just laughed, describing such negative reports as lies.   Go

Ekiti: Leaders insist on zoning

Leaders of the South senatorial district in Ekiti state has urged the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) grant the south senatorial  district the exclusive right to produce the next governor of the state as this will be fair to the district.  The call was made at a media briefing organized by Ekiti South leaders in Ikere, Ekiti State. The forum which was represented by its chairman, Chief Oluwole Ariyo, its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Barrister Wole Adebola and the Secretary, Chief Oloruntoba Ajayi made it clear that APC must abide with this recommendation on where the next governor should come from. The Forum, through it spokesperson noted that the South senatorial Zone is yet to produce a governor in the past 21 years of it creation unlike its Central and North districts which will has been produce governors twice and thrice respectively. Afghan military leaders resign after attack

Afghan Defence Minister, Abdullah Habibi and Army Chief of Staff Qadam Shah Shahim stepped down with immediate effect, after more than 140 soldiers were killed last week in the deadliest ever Taliban attack on a military base. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani accepted the resignations of his defense minister and army chief of staff on Monday, the president's office said. The resignations were because of Friday's attack on a major army base in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif. In a serious security failure, as many as 10 Taliban fighters, dressed in Afghan army uniforms and driving military vehicles, made their way onto the base and opened fire on soldiers and new recruits eating a meal and leaving a mosque after Friday prayers. The attackers used rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns, and suicide vests in the attack . Ghani declared Sunday a day of mourning, ordering flags to be flown at half staff.

FG denies military involvement vaccination

The federal government has denied reports of injection of monkey pox virus on people in their medical outreach across the country. Minister of health Isaac Adewole gave the clarification while briefing journalists after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting. The minister said although the military embark upon periodic medical outreach it is not currently involved in any vaccination. In the last few weeks, there have apprehension in some states of the country over the medical outreach being conducted by the military. The gesture has been misunderstood given series of deaths that occured in some places after the military’s medical outreach making parents suspect that the exercise is aimed at injecting monkey pox virus into their wards. But the minister of health said the medical outreach is never meant to harm anyone, even though the exercise is not part of government vaccination. There is no limitation in age, former 87-year-old, Nigerian senator speaks on his recent wedding, as the lawyer and ex lawmaker, Senator Cyrus Nunieh has decided to re-marry another wife. Nunieh reasoned that he was alone and needed a companion since his children were all adults. The newly wedded groom officially married a lady in her 40s on Tuesday at the Presidential Hotel in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital. It was reportedly gathered that Nunieh had been alone after his former wife died in 1991. President Buhari today said his administration has demonstrated the ability to contain the activities of Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria, especially in the North East. Speaking at a joint press conference with the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President Buhari said the relative peace and improved security situation in the Northeast, is a  testimony to the efforts of his administration in combating terrorism since he came into office in May 2015. “We were very surprised and disturbed by the claim made by Boko Haram on what they have been getting from ISIS. We know we will be able to contain them and we have proven that we can do it. We are very pleased that Turkey is in a position to assist us and has been strengthening our educational and health institutions.” he said

Taliban kill at least 43 Afghan troops

The Afghan Taliban stormed a military base in the south of the country killing at least 43 troops on Thursday, the Defence Ministry said, with the militants putting the toll at at least 60. Of 60 soldiers manning the base in the province of Kandahar, 43 were killed, nine were wounded and six were missing after the militants attacked in the middle of the night, the ministry said in a statement. At least ten Taliban were also reported killed. Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, a local spokesman for the militant group, said the attack began with a suicide car bomb followed by an assault that overran the base. The attack killed at least 60 Afghan soldiers and wounded many more, he said. The Taliban have been waging an insurgency for a decade and a half in an attempt to overthrow the Western-backed government in Kabul and reestablish a fundamentalist Islamic regime.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris has expressed outrage over the recent kidnapping of police officers especially the kidnap of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Niger State. The visibly angry police boss, who made this known  on Wednesday  in Abuja during the monthly conference with Commissioners of Police (CPs) and other senior police officers held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, said the spate of kidnapping of police officers across the country was becoming an embarrassment to the police who are supposed to be providing security for the country. He said henceforth, state commissions of police would be held responsible for the kidnap of any police personnel under their commands even as he urged them to be more conscious of their movement and environment. He said that as police officers, their primary duties was for them to first protect themselves before protecting others. Rapper The Game got a 15 year old pregnant?

Rapper Game is currently trending on social media for the wrong reason... According to Gossip site Fameolous, the 37-year-old allegedly impregnated a 15-year-old girl in the U.K. The site allegedly spoke with the unnamed minor, who stated that not only was she pregnant by him, but she’s already had the baby. She reportedly said that she met the Compton-bred emcee in a club with an age limit of 18 and over. Fameolous reports that she produced a fake I.D. for admission into the venue and that’s where she ran into Game, who she also allegedly said was not aware that she was only 15. The now-deleted conversation with Fameolous reportedly showed her complete account of what happened. The site said that they removed the conversation due to fans harassing her.
