Anambra suspends Army medical outreach
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has called on parents, guidance to stop withdrawing their children and wards from schools over the rumour of forced immunization by the medical team of the Nigeria Army as speculated on the social media.

He regretted the misrepresentation of the entire situation with insinuations of spread of diseases and death of students in the exercise ,warning mischief markers to desist from spreading falsehood as the state is calm, stable and peaceful.
Commissioner for Health , Dr. Josephat Akabuike in a swift response led a team to St. Michael's Catholic Church Ozubulu, Venue of the Medical Outreach of the Nigerian Army said that the visit was to have an on the spot assessment of the rumour, and noted that the pandemonium was caused as a result of fear of monkey pox that is ravaging some parts of the country and assured that the state government has put all necessary measures in place to ensure that the virus does not enter the state or be effectively managed in the case of any eventuality.
Akabuike commended the Nigerian Army for initiating the Medical Outreach which has now been suspended by the state government following the misconception and apprehension it generated among the populace which led to withdrawal of pupils and students from schools by parents and guardians.
The General Officer, Commanding Eighty- Two Division Enugu, Major General Mohammed Abubakar represented by Brigadier General J. O Ugwuoke explained that the exercise had earlier taken place in Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia and finally has come to Anambra state and made it clear that they don't go from school to school nor give injections to pupils and students as being speculated on the social media.
The Transition Committee Chairman, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Engineer Ikenna Offordeme equally regretted the false information on the social media and thanked the army for embarking on humanitarian service.
The Commissioner later went round all the medical facilities in the place in company of the Army Medical team for inspection, and thereafter he affirmed that there was nothing really to worry about.
