Atlanta mom accused of killing her 2 sons by putting them in oven and sending footage of the grisly aftermath to their dad
An Atlanta mom, Lamora Williams, 24, is accused of killing her two sons after she allegedly put them in an oven and turned it on.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that investigators say Lamora Williams put the boys, Ke’Younte Penn, 2, and Ja’Karter Williams,1 in the oven sometime between midnight Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday, and then showed their father footage of the grisly aftermath.
The 24-year-old single mother of four called the boys’ father, Jameel Penn, Friday night to show him live video of the crime scene, including the children lying burned on the floor, which prompted him to call 911.
Williams was arrested on felony murder charges on Friday night and was ordered held without bond in Fulton County jail. She told cops that she left the kids in a sitter’s care and found the kids dead when she came home late Friday.
However, neighbors denied Williams' story claiming she had left the children home alone before. 'She don't ever have anybody here with these children,' the neighbor said.
Police found the boys around 11.30pm and said that the smell in the apartment indicates the bodies may have been inside for a few days. The official cause of death is pending an autopsy.
Speaking to WXIA-TV, Penn said he was separated from his children’s mother and he would see the boys on weekends.
He said Williams called Friday night 'and she is like, they’re dead. And I’m like, who’s dead?'
A few moments later, Williams initiated a video call with Penn and panned her cellphone camera across the room, revealing a gruesome scene inside her apartment.
'Every time I close my eyes from now on, that is what I'm going to see,' Penn said, declining to describe exactly what he saw in the video
Speaking during the candlelight vigil for his sons on Saturday, the grieving dad said: “I ain’t got no soul no more. Ja’karter, Keyante, my world, my everything. I’m lost.”
According to reports, Willams suffered from undiagnosed mental health problems that were made worse after the death of her father when she was 19.
Her 6-year-old daughter was placed in family members’ care, according to police, but it was not immediately clear where her fourth child was.
Lamora 's sister, Tabitha Hollingsworth, told AJC that Williams should be put on suicide watch in the Fulton County jail, where she was being held.
Tabitha confirmed that her sister suffered from an undiagnosed mental illness even as a child and no one listened to her mother’s pleas when she wanted to seek help for Williams.
“Teachers would say something was wrong, but the state said nothing was wrong. This is something the state didn’t recognize. The whole state really failed us.She’s the only one who really knows what happened,” Hollingsworth said.
Williams and Penn also have a 3-year-old son, Jameel Penn Jr, who was found unharmed in the mother’s apartment. According to police, the surviving child allegedly saw his mother kill his two younger siblings.
